Smolensk Kristall's Russian make is renowned in diamond markets throughout the world for the exceptional fire and brilliance that it brings to the stone.

Several generations of craft workers have refined the Russian cut since the industry began in earnest in the 1960s. All art is about economy -- knowing how much to take away: for example, the carving of the marble block to reveal the form within. But working with material of great value, the diamond cutter's is an art more challenging than most in its risks and triumphs.

Despite the industry turmoil of the past forty years, we have remained part of the international diamond industry. At Smolensk Kristall our striving for excellence has always been driven by awareness of the fiercely competitive world market.

We owe our present position at the summit of Russia's diamond trade to our many customers abroad. And as we enter the twenty-first century, alliances with foreign companies have already led us to develop new technologies.
